When I was at Microsoft, I was a part of a team which participated in puzzle hunts held by other Microsofties. The hunt ran over the weekend with people staying up all night solving puzzles!
Only a few teams managed to solve the final meta-puzzle, but it was quite satisfying to solve whatever amount we could solve.
The puzzles were very creative, with the winners of last year usually holding the contest for the current year.
This puzzle is a puzzle in that spirit.
